Thanks for the anecdote, isjrb. Arguably, you should wish it on your friends and your enemies. You are now immune to this strain of flu . . . and to at least some of the mutations that may come along. And, all of that without risking vaccine reaction or injury. I'm jealous.

Uh, oh, Ed . . . Better go take a look at this post: 170,000 defective doses of vaccine in Canada , over on the "And the Swine Flu Won't Go Away" thread . . . Are you sure you're feeling okay?

i don't know cloudfire. That 1 in 20,000 anaphylactic reactions seems about the normal risk to me due to the normal prevalence of egg allergies in the human population. Their estimate of 1 in 100,000 doses seems a bit low to me. In any case the doses were probably given as soon as they were recieved due to the demand for the vaccine. Like I said before the vaccine is still safer than the disease, but the safety differential is less than one order of magnitude, since the disease(in it's current form) is relatively mild.

I actually didn't read the post, Doc . . . I only posted it for Ed's benefit, since he's Canadian . . . and to give him a bit of the raspberries.

I'm still good here, my arm was sore for a single day but thats it, I get more pain and suffering from a single martial arts practice session. I'll contact my doc and see if I need any followup. Oh, and afaik I'm also immune to the strain I got vaccinated for which is how vaccines work eh?

Formally Zombie210I had the swine flu a couple of weeks ago.
I can say, that for my wife and I, it was the mildest flu we have ever experienced. Not sure why it affects everyone so differently. Perhaps it was the swine flu vaccine that I got back in '76. That was the first and last time I ever got a flu shot. The day after I got that shot I came down with the worst case of the flu I've ever had. I swore off vacanations at that point. We raised all three of children without a single vaccination of any kind, all who are healthy adults now.
News update, still not dead from the vaccination. Please place your bets for the next round.

I had it last week. Started with a tickle in my throat on Friday high fever by Saturday afternoon 103.6. I got up and took a cool shower. I drank a glass of ice water every hour. Slept through Sunday night and went to the doctor in Monday morning. She put me on Tamiflu and that seemed to help although I had really wierd dreams that night. Kept a fever through Tuesday. Back to work on Thursday. I am glad it is over.
