Mr. Daisey and the Apple factories of China

For those who are not fans of This American Life, here is a broadcast you probably missed.  It's important for those of us who like to think of ourselves as tech savvy to know where our electronic toys come from.  It isn't a pretty picture, but not all together grim.  Maybe sweat shops are just a necessary evil in the economic progress of a nation.

For purposes of the CM community, what is going to happen to those factories that currently employee many thousands of Chinese people, many women who view these jobs as steps up economically and culturally, when whatever global recession/depression starts closing plants?  Even if they want to, I question whether those people can return to their traditional villages and social structures.  At any rate, its an interesting broadcast, some times even funny.
