Dwindling resources - alternative sources

There have recently been a lot of print ads/TV time sponsored by T.Boone Pickens and the topic of energy using wind, sun, hydro, natural gas and other resources. Is there a Chris Martenson opinion on whether this holds a spot on the stage for reasonable results vs. cost of production (an energy cost I would assume since it takes energy to produce energy). Is there a hidden agenda here?
