Documentaries recommended by the CM community

People have been providing various references to interesting documentary movies related to the topics discussed on this site through out the various forum topics here. I recently happened to watch two such documentaries and wanted to recommend it for any new CM visitor interested in watching more such topics (both for themselves and for spreading awareness to their friends).

I also realized there are a whole lot of documentaries that are very interesting but I probably won't have the time to watch them. Put it another way, if people are willing to review, it would help us all overall in deciding which ones to watch.

Here's my three recommendations to begin with:

"What a way to go: Life at the end of the Empire" - http://www.whatawaytogomovie.com/

"End of suburbia" - http://www.endofsuburbia.com/

"A Crude Awakening" a.k.a. "Oil Crash Movie" - http://www.oilcrashmovie.com/

What are your recommendations?

I would add to this list:

 - "Money as debt", animated video by Paul Grignon: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-9050474362583451279  or www.moneyasdebt.net/

 - "The story of stuff", with Annie Leonard: www.storyofstuff.com/

 - "Ecological Economics FAQs" from Gund Institute: http://metacourses.org/ecologicaleconomics/resources/ecological_economics_faqs/

 - "Heat" from PBS: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/heat/

I would add `power of community` - about post- Iron curtain Cuba, who seemed to make all the right moves after the oil supply abruptly ran out:

Re: The Corporation
Hi Sunson, this is one film that really hits the message home for myself, and for many of the people I've spoken to about it. Thankyou for putting up this thread!!! I'll see what else I can add from my vaults... Best, Paul

WINNER OF 26 INTERNATIONAL AWARDS! 10 Audience Choice Awards including the 2004 Sundance Film Festival.

Provoking, witty, stylish and sweepingly informative, THE CORPORATION explores the nature and spectacular rise of the dominant institution of our time. Part film and part movement, The Corporation is transforming audiences and dazzling critics with its insightful and compelling analysis. Taking its status as a legal "person" to the logical conclusion, the film puts the corporation on the psychiatrist's couch to ask "What kind of person is it?" The Corporation includes interviews with 40 corporate insiders and critics - including Noam Chomsky, Naomi Klein, Milton Friedman, Howard Zinn, Vandana Shiva and Michael Moore - plus true confessions, case studies and strategies for change.

"The Great Dance"

A couple of filmmakers hang out with some african tribesmen who are quite traditional. It really sets the standard for community, connection to the land, and sustainability.

Its hard to find, but well worth the watch.

Peace, Liam

Re: Freedom To Fascism

Aaron Russo's film on the 1913 16th Amendment to the United States Constitution, that was ratified (allegedly), authorizing the Federal government to impose and collect income taxes.
