rowmat - that's crazy, everything is fine.  The recession is ending and millions of exciting green jobs will be created.  Maybe you didn't see it on TV last night.

If you lost your job and had all your money in the stock market this recession already feels like a depression. The fact is, for many, not much has changed. They still go to work and their dollars buy more than a year ago. All seems well. I believe the next shock will rattle even more deeply. A massive oil spike causing inflation and unemployment will be the surprise to the mass of conservative investors. All those people holding CD's thinking they are safe from the crisis will finally be hit. I believe when the monetary base is multiplied allowing small businesses to expand to create the new localized economy, the dollar will sink and $10 gas and $10 milk are real possibilities.

The world Billionaires understand it and have stated so, at least the ones I get my investment advice from (Rogers Soros and Buffet). I personally do not believe the stock market will close forever, that your bank accounts will be confiscated, or that you need to have free range chickens pecking around your house to survive this crisis. Rather, I believe a new world will emerge. One that is more protectionist, local, and one that will reward those who understand it. Perhaps farming will be the best investment of our life time as Jim Rogers says. Does that mean I need to turn in my suit for a tractor? Or can I reposition my wealth to to own a diversified farming portfolio? Can I own Potash, Mansanto, and Corn? Can I own Timberland REIT's and long dated oil futures and be just as well protected without giving up the comforts of the lake life I enjoy so much?

Reading between the lines it looks like even these guys aren't looking all bright eyed and bushy tailed, about the US Economy right now, there is some positive spin, but not the normal "we're ok and ready to roll all over again" message.

I'm not saying depression until I see bread lines and starvation.

In honor of the true suffering faced by our forebearers.
We have a tendancy in America to dramatize every event, to act out as if our suffering is the worst ever faced, and our problems are more vast and nebulous than anyone elses.

I have a feeling that for certain villiages throughout Eastern Europe, Africa and South America, the Depression never ended.

We still have an extravagant life, and it's slowing down. Whether it'll pull a "Wile E. Coyote" and blink twice before falling to it's doom, or A Chessie Sullenburger is yet to be seen.

Until visible signs arrive, I choose to distrust any and all media outlets.

What I see day after day in the MSM is how did Michael Jackson Die. How stupid is this? One look at him & it is obvious....he didn't like who he was so he took his own life one day at a time. But let us get the MSM point of view like the Doctors must have done this to him or lets ban the drug he overdosed on because this could hurt someone else. Ever since the National Enquirer proved what "most" people like "dirty laundry" & basic trash gossip everybody wants to sell it now.

If I talk about reality like this article to family & friends I am a doom & gloomer. They rather talk about dirty laundry. America has become a hollow shell of itself sad to say.

Things are so distorted with liberal thinking these days IMHO that I am surprised they think we need jobs at all. They just let so many people make up any lame excuse to receive welfare or disability what would be wrong with just letting everybody have it to see how this works.

I am beginning to think the MSM loves stuff like Madoff & Michael Jackson stories to mask the real issues that have serious repercussions for all of us. Either this or they have successfully dumbed people down to the point they have no clue what is real.

I tried to show the Crash Course to acquaintances at work to family members & neighbors. After seeing what it was about only a few took interest. Most thought "how boring" cuts into Oprah time. America will wakeup but after a very hard fall IMHO.

The people that contribute & view this site IMHO are a very small minority that really try to understand whats real. I rather be in this small minority than with the herd that is unprepared & heading to go over the cliff.

Nothing annoys me more (and attempts to quash my compassion) than this very widespread phenomenon. It's like someone calling you a pessimist for saying a house is burning down while your standing on the curb watching a house burn down. It's maddening and clearly a deep and powerful psychological affliction born of the emotional scam that is optimism or "looking on the bright side." To me, religion and other similar philosophies and belief systems long ago established this bi-polar world (bulls and bears) where evil does battle with good, and positivity with negativity. Why can't things simply be, without needing to immediately be pigeon-holed. On an individual level, isn't it a net positive if someone looks at all of their problems and flaws honestly and clearly and then attempts to change them?

I've been observing the US MSM and for the most part there's nothing like this.  But I have also noticed that little niblets o'reality are starting to pop up, even on places like cnn.com and so forth.  

I've also noticed that the general MSM attitude towards Obama is shifting from "Shucks Ain't He Somethin'?!!!" to an attitude less fond.  I'd bet that continues as things continue to unravel (barring some Event that galvanizes the nation a la 9/12/01).  One man's opinion...

Hey, instead of taking the opportunity to give you my opinion of the world, I'll try answering your question.  I've seen a LOT of articles like this one.
