Alaska pipeline/ Peak oil
Gary North posted a good article for his members pointing out the dropping production of oil in Alaska. The pipeline revenues provide 85% of Alaska's state govt. revenue. The production through the pipeline is down to 1/3 of its peak production. By 2013 the flow of oil through the pipe will be down to a level that will not keep the oil liquid enough to flow properly because of the cold. Maybe more drilling can be done, but if not then the pipeline may well be shut down. Right now it supplies 11% of US oil. When it stops, that oil will need to be imported and Alaska will need to look elsewhere for revenue.. This will be repeated around the world as fields start to dry up.
