If you are concerned about the future, I have something for you to consider.

It is a well known fact that when people are anxious or fearful, their ability to act is significantly diminished. Once a year, we deliver a seminar to help people better prepare for the future by turning our attention to the most important, but usually overlooked, elements of preparation: one's state of mind.

Our weekend-long seminar is designed to help provide clarity, focus and relief from the anxiety you might feel about the future.

Setting the Crash Course in the back ground, we traverse over to the other hemisphere of the brain so that 'what you do' can come into better alignment with 'what you know.' We'll discuss how to deal with a reluctant partner, dive into the underlying reasons we act or fail to act, and cover the basics of resilience, all while providing participants with plenty of room to interact.

Annual Crash Course Weekend Seminar: February 25-27, 2011

As you finalize your winter travel schedule, Becca and I invite you to join us this year for our fourth annual Crash Course weekend seminar. It will be held in Rowe, Massachusetts from February 25-27, 2011.

The recent IEA report stating that the age of cheap oil has already come and gone marks a new phase in the Peak Oil saga. The need to prepare your home, family and community is now more urgent than ever. Making the time to organize your thoughts, align your goals, and emotionally commit to the process of preparation now will prove to be one of the best investments you can make - saving you money, effort, and stress in the future.

Working together in an interactive group setting, we will help you assemble a Crash Course toolbox that helps you apply the concepts of the course into your daily life.   read more »

Installing a Solar Energy System

Like many of you reading this article, I am fairly new to the realization that our future may not turn out the way we originally planned.  A little over two years ago, after the financial turmoil set in, I began to wake up from my comfortable, relatively uncomplicated life and take a closer look at what was going on around me.

I was first introduced to the Crash Course by an attendee at the 2009 CPAC Liberty Forum in Washington, DC where I had gone to hear Ron Paul speak.  Little did I know how dramatic an impact that one conversation would have on my life.  After watching the Crash Course a couple of times, many pieces of the puzzle started to fall together, and I quickly progressed to Stage 4 - Fear.  (See The Six Stages of Awareness for more on that topic).  A few weeks after I attended Dr. Martenson's Lowesville seminar, I decided it was time to take immediate action.  I've also had to deal with the challenges of convincing my partner that these changes were really worthwhile and necessary and that I wasn't a raving lunatic who would soon be wearing a tin foil hat!

I hope reading about the thermal and photovoltaic solar systems we have installed will encourage you to think about actions you can take to prepare for our uncertain future.  Since it would be impossible to even begin to give every detail about how the systems work or how to put one together, my goal is to show what can be done, give you things to consider, suggest rough costs, and provide links for further research.

Two Podcasts: "Seminars" and "A World Worth Inheriting"

The question comes down to, "What should I do?"

Becca and I have spent several years crafting a seminar that helps people answer that question.  We are often asked what sorts of benefits the seminar offers that are not contained within the Crash Course or the website and what will be offered.

In this podcast, we address those questions.  Some people prefer an audio format, so this is for you.  Listen to it while you work, and then send it along to a friend, neighbor, or loved one who you think might be encouraged to attend a seminar by listening to this recording.

In it we talk about some of the incredible reports of progress that we've received on the value of the seminar, along with our own joy in meeting the people who attend and maintaining some of those relationships afterwards.

Remember, the next seminar is being held in New Paltz, NY on April 11, 2010.  Details are located at this link or by navigating using the events listings on the border of the main page.

Official Rowe Participants Thread (November '09)

This is thread that Rowe participants should use to communicate, update others on progress and nurture the connections made in Rowe.  Thanks again to all for attending!

Please Join Us At Rowe

Before the holiday festivities begin and you reunite with your families, Becca and I invite all of you to spend some time with our family.  We are getting close to our once-a-year seminar in Rowe, MA.

Tucked away in a picturesque mountain setting, the Rowe seminar combines an atmosphere of retreat with a social environment and educational tools to promote action, conversation, and solutions.

This year’s seminar incorporates a number of improvements and new sections, as we increasingly focus on the practical, emotional and community components that help us prepare and envision the change we wish to see.

One of the unique elements of the Rowe experience is the diverse but aligned community it attracts. Becca and I are still in touch with many of the impassioned and articulate individuals who have comprised previous groups from Rowe.  As the premier seminar in our home region of Western Massachusetts, we feel a special connection to Rowe, and find it an incredibly valuable resource for regrouping and reawakening to what is possible within a motivated local community.

Time is running out to register, so we hope you will consider joining us for this special, end-of-fall event.

Click here to register to be a part of this one-of-a-kind event, which kicks off Friday, November 20th.
