Well, today I leave for the UK. Things have been a bit crazy around here as we've been prepping a very complicated schedule with lots of moving pieces that has me giving 11 talks in 10 days in 4 cities in 2 countries. That's a lot of talking. Additionally, there are plenty of meetings and dinners to attend along the way.
I wanted to loop you in on my itinerary out there, especially to encourage you to attend the events that are free and open to the public. The two primary events are talks at Stirling University in Stirling, Scotland, the morning of Friday, February 19th and a talk for the All Parliamentary Party Group on Peak Oil, which will take place at the House of Commons the evening of Tuesday, February 23rd. I will also have shorter speaking/panelist spots during the International Petroleum Week conference on Wednesday the 17th, and during the Civil Society Summit in Edinburgh on the 18th. These events are also open to the public. See below for more details. I sincerely hope I will have the chance to meet some of my Scottish and British readers at these events.
This represents my first journey outside of North America with this message, and from what I can tell from the documents I've reviewed and from the planned conversations I will engage in on this trip, the UK is already well past the turn-the-corner phase in terms of awareness about these issues and is surging ahead into developing the policy, strategy and community tools to address them head-on.
I'm really looking forward to being a part of meaningful dialogue with politicians, business leaders, academics and community organizations across the pond, not only to be a part of their thinking and planning, but to bring back lessons and ideas from their work for use in our corner of the world.
Here's my itinerary, and there's more info about the open events in the events section. Looking forward to seeing you there.

I am very happy to see this & very happy for you & your family. London is a great place to visit.
Any additional info about the CSFI - Centre for the Study of Financial Innovation on Tuesday the 16th? Is it open to the public? I am in town and would like to have the opportunity to see Chris in person.

Hi goes,
Unfortunately CSFI is a private event. Anything open to the public is noted next to the entry on the itinerary. Hope you can make it to one of the other London events (Energy Institute conference on the 17th or All Parliamentary Party Group on Peak Oil on the 23rd). Thanks for your interest!

Darn! I can't get out of the office for that long on 17th (a couple of hours over lunch was pushing it) and I will be gone by the weekend.

Whoa, the LSE? Very nice... I'll be quite interested to hear if the folks across the pond seem to have the some grasp of the 3Es in a way we in the US do not. Safe trip!
Viva -- Sager
"Show some !@#$%^ ADAPTABILITY!!" -- Sergeant Jack Shaftoe, USMC ("Cryptonomicon")
"It's all goin' *down*, man! Martha Stewart's polishing the brass on the Titanic!" -- Tyler Durden
"Have the courage to use your own understanding!' -- Immanuel Kant
"Dreams are the seedbed of the possible." -- William Greider
"One day you finally knew what you had to do, and began, though the voices around you kept shouting their bad advice." -- Mary Oliver
Have registered for the 23rd and look forward to seeing you. Amazed to find out there was an all party forum regarding peak oil and gas, I guess there are people in government taking these things seriously. The tipping point of awareness may not be so far away after all, best of luck in your visit!
Chris, I will see you at the HOC on the 23rd, have a safe trip.
mesaboogieman, they have had talks on peak oil in the HOC for ten years or more, MPs can't believe that growth is ever going to be unsustainable, but they are aware of peak oil (questions are asked about it in the House from time to time) the Government won't mention it because they don't know how to cope with it. Maybe I'll see you in the HOC, I normally sit near the front of the room.
I'm looking forward to seeing you in the UK Chris.
The LSE event is also open to the public if you pre-arrange with them
