Self-Assessment

The purpose of this site

The entire purpose of this site is to get you, your loved ones, and your community in gear and taking actions. My mission is to help you take whatever preparations you feel are appropriate given your beliefs around what may transpire.

There are lots and lots of places where you can read about the impending changes, or feel really horrible about lots and lots of things, but that is not the point of this site.   On this site, I've done my best to present the information as cleanly as I can, and your job is to ingest as much as you need to to get moving.

The time is now

While we do not claim to have any sort of crystal ball, and certainly have no special insights into when a crisis may hit, we do know a few things:

  • When it comes to preparations, it's better to be a year early than a day late.
  • Once it is obvious to everybody that concrete actions need be taken, your options will be extremely limited.
  • Some actions require very little time and money but provide huge benefits.

What you can do

Below you will find downloadable files containing a Self-Assessment that I developed for the purpose of helping others evaluate potentially valuable actions that would prepare them to weather a variety of possible crises.  Take your time reading and thinking about the questions on the Self-Assessment.  It is designed to help you identify gaps in the areas where you and your family have needs that will have to be met under any circumstances.

Once you have identified these gaps, consider your personal priorities and think about reasonable and prudent actions that would fill the gaps in your personal assessment.  Then make a plan.  If you haven't already done so, reviewing Chapter 20 will help with this process.  You might find it helpful to host a community meeting or  gather with a friends and family to work on the self-assessment and brainstorm solutions together. The General Discussion Forum is also a great resource for information and answers to common questions.
